The Anambra State Police Command has explained the security concerns stages that led to the corrective measures recently taken by the Anambra State Government to enhance safety and security in the State, particularly the efforts aimed at discouraging the illegal Sit-at-Home and closure of markets on Mondays. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command.

The Statement reads in part:”The Command notes that the first stage of addressing the security challenges occurred when criminal elements launched attacks on security operatives and destroyed government facilities in an attempt to instil fear in the residents of Anambra State. Despite these attacks and the prevailing conspiracy of silence, in which residents initially feared volunteering information, the security forces remained resolute and demonstrated courage and professionalism.

“A positive shift in public attitude marked the second stage, as residents gradually became bolder and began to assist the Police and other security agencies by providing useful information to aid operations.

“In the third stage, residents went beyond volunteering information and showed a stronger commitment by actively supporting the Police in identifying and apprehending criminal elements within their communities through the launch of Operation Udo ga achi.

“Currently, the Anambra State Government, in collaboration with Ndi Anambra, has resolved to correct harmful practices arising from security concerns, including the illegal Sit-at-Home order and closure of markets on Mondays.

“The Anambra State Police Command, on behalf of all security agencies in the State, assures the public of its continued commitment to protecting lives and property and maintaining peace and security across the State, ” it also added.
