The All Progressives Congress (APC) has expressed its deep sadness over the death of Senator Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi at the age of 67. This was contained in a statement signed by Felix Morka, CON, National Publicity Secretary, All Progressives Congress (APC).
The statement reads: “Sen. Nwaoboshi was a veteran politician, a resolute democrat and devout stalwart of our great Party. As a federal lawmaker, he represented the Delta North Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Senate, and served as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta.
“Sen. Nwaoboshi became the first APC Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District when he decamped from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to our great Party in June 2021. He was a two-term Delta State Chairman of the PDP. As pioneer Secretary of the PDP in Delta State, he effectively bolstered and entrenched the structure of the party in deft moves that earned him the sobriquet of “political oracle”, as he was fondly called. In his service as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta, he championed the cause of economic empowerment for his people as he promoted even development of the entire region.
“Sen. Nwaoboshi leaves behind an indelible record of exceptional public service to country. A grassroots mobilizer, fearless advocate for equity, inclusion and fairness, his passing has created a deep void that would be difficult to fill.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, political associates, the government and good people of Delta state during this difficult time.
“Amazing Grace! Amazing Grace! May His Grace lead him home! May the soul of our dearly departed Sen. Peter Onyeluka Nwaoboshi find eternal rest in the Lord. Amen,” it also added.
