The Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command, CP Miller G. Dantawaye, psc, on Monday, 27th January 2026, paid courtesy visits to the traditional head (Sa’peyi) of Garki District, HRH Alhaji Dr. Usman Nga Kupi, and the traditional head (Gomo) of Kuje, HRH Alhaji Dr. Haruna Tanko Jibrin, mfr. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Josephine Adeh, Police Public Relations Officer, FCT Police Command, Abuja.

During the visits, the Commissioner of Police engaged extensively with community leaders, including thirty-six (36) village heads in Garki District and one hundred and twenty-four (124) village heads in Kuje Area Council.

While addressing the traditional rulers and their councils, CP Dantawaye emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and collective responsibility as preparations continue for the forthcoming 2026 Area Council elections.

He stressed that elections should not be viewed as a do-or-die affair, noting that democratic processes provide continuous opportunities and that the outcome of any election should never warrant violence or breakdown of law and order. According to him, the ultimate goal remains the conduct of peaceful, credible, and violence-free elections across the FCT.

The Commissioner further called on the traditional institutions to leverage their influence by sensitizing their subjects on the need to shun violence, resist misinformation, and cooperate with security agencies before, during, and after the electoral process.

The courtesy visits form part of the Command’s community-oriented policing and stakeholder engagement strategy, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Police and communities to enhance peace, security, and public trust within the Federal Capital Territory.
Residents of the FCT are encouraged to promptly report emergencies and suspicious activities through the Command’s emergency lines:
08032003913, 08028940883.
