The Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Shehu Mohammed, has commended personnel deployed for the ongoing Eid el-Kabir Special Patrol Operations for their dedication, professionalism, and remarkable performance across the country. This was contained in a statement signed by Osondu Ohaeri, fnipr, fcai, Deputy Corps Commander, Corps Public Relations Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps Headquarters, Abuja.
The Corps Marshal gave the commendation following reports received from supervisory teams deployed from the National Headquarters to monitor the nationwide special operations. He noted that the commitment and gallantry demonstrated by the personnel have contributed significantly to the successes recorded so far in ensuring safer highways and smoother traffic flow during the festive period.
While expressing satisfaction with the general conduct and operational efficiency of the personnel, Shehu Mohammed urged them not to relent in their efforts but to sustain the current momentum throughout the duration of the exercise.
According to the Corps Marshal, the positive impact of the special patrol operations has been largely driven by the unwavering commitment of FRSC personnel as well as the cooperation received from members of the motoring public.
He therefore appealed to all road users to continue supporting the Corps by complying with traffic regulations and adhering strictly to all road safety advisories issued during the festive season.
additionally, he reviewed the progress of the operations nationwide and expressed confidence in the capacity of the personnel to sustain the gains already achieved. He, however, noted with concern that some motorists still engage in dangerous traffic violations capable of undermining road safety efforts.
Consequently, he warned motorists against acts such as speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, use of phones while driving, and other traffic infractions, stressing that such violations remain major contributors to road traffic crashes.
He urged all road users to exercise patience, maintain discipline on the highways, and comply with established traffic regulations, emphasising that road safety remains a shared responsibility and that the road does not forgive mistakes.
The Corps Marshal reassured the public of the Corps’ commitment to ensuring a safe and hitch-free post Eid el-Kabir celebration for all Nigerians through sustained enforcement, public enlightenment, traffic management, and prompt rescue services across the nation’s highways.
