The Federal Government has commenced the process for the appointment of Permanent Secretaries to fill existing vacancies in Oyo State and the North-West Zone, as well as the position of Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF) in the Federal Civil Service. This was contained in a statement signed by Mrs. Eno Olotu,mnipr, Director, Information and Public Relations.
Following a recent circular issued by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (OHCSF), the appointment process will involve a three-stage mandatory examination exercise, which will be conducted from Monday, 10th February to Friday, 14th February 2025.
The first stage will commence on Monday, 10th February with a written examination for eligible candidates from the  North-West and Oyo State, While eligible candidates/ Directors from the pool of the office of Accountant-General of the Federation will participate in a similar written examination on Tuesday, 11th February, 2025.
Candidates who scale through the first stage will proceed to the second stage, a Computer- Based Assessment test to be conducted for both categories on Wednesday, 12th February, and Thursday, 13th February respectively, to evaluate their ICT proficiency. The process will be concluded on Friday, 14th February 2025 with an oral interview.
Upon completion of the appointment process, the names of the top three candidates in each category who scored 60% and above in the assessments for the Oyo State, North-West Zone, and Accountant-General positions will be forwarded to Mr. President for final approval and appointment of one candidate for each position.
In a bid to reinforce transparency and accountability, the private sector will be present throughout the process to audit the exercise. Also, the security agencies will act as observers to ensure the integrity and safety of the entire exercise.
The Head of the Civil Service of the Federation (HCSF), Mrs. Didi Esther Walson-Jack, OON, mni, has stated that the process will be merit-based and reiterated her commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and strict adherence to established guidelines in the appointment process. She assured that only the most competent and qualified candidates will emerge successfully through the rigorous process.
She further emphasized that the Federal Government remains committed to strengthening the leadership and efficiency of the civil service, ensuring that appointed officials possess the required skills and expertise to drive public sector reforms in line with the Federal Civil Service Strategy and Implementation Plan (FCSSIP-25).
The appointment process is expected to produce highly competent and result-oriented leaders who will contribute significantly to the realization of the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
