FG Predicts 12 States at risk of flooding

The Federal Government of Nigeria through National Flood Early Waring Centre, Federal Ministry of Environment has predicted heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding in the month of September 2025.

This was contained in a statement signed by Usman Abdullahi Bokani, Director, Erosion, flood, & Coastal zone Mgt Department, Ministry of Environment.

According to the statement, in addition to the flood prediction of 24 September 2025, the following locations and their environs are likely to witness heavy rainfall that may lead to flooding within the period of prediction: 26 September-28 September 2025.

Abia State: Aba, Eziama, Umuahia
Akwa-Ibom State: Edor, Eket, Ikom, Itigidi, Oron, Upenekang
Benue State: Abinsi, Agyo, Igumale, Mbapa, Otobi, otukpo, Ugbokolo
Borno State: Bama
Crossriver State: Akpap, Edor, Obubra, Calabar
Ebonyi State: Abakaliki, Afikpo, Echara, Ezilo
Imo State: Nworieubi, Okigwe, Orlu, Otoko, Owerri
Kano State: Kunchi
Katsina State: Daura
Kebbi State: Birnin-Kebbi, Kalgo, Jega, Samba, Saminaka
Nasarawa State: Agima, Keaba, Rukubi
Niger State: Sarkin-pawa

The statement further advised all relevant stakeholders to take note.
