The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Ikioye Orutugu, fwc, mnips, PhD, alongside other State Service Chiefs and distinguished personalities, on 15th January 2026, participated in a solemn wreath-laying ceremony in honour of officers who paid the supreme price in the line of duty. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command.
According to the statement, the ceremony was led by the Special Guest of Honour, His Excellency, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, as part of activities to commemorate the courage, sacrifice, and selfless service of fallen officers who laid down their lives in defence of the nation and the protection of lives and property.
The event featured a moment of silence, intercessory prayers, gun salute, laying of wreaths, and the unveiling and release of white pigeons by the Governor, the Commissioner of Police, Service Chiefs, and other dignitaries. These symbolic gestures represented collective gratitude, remembrance, and the nation’s hope for lasting peace and harmony.
