Interior Ministry Commits to Excellence, Stakeholder Engagement

The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior, Dr. Magdalene Ajani has reaffirmed the ministry’s dedication to promoting transparency, efficiency, and stakeholder engagement in the delivery of its mandate.

Speaking during a meeting with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federal Information Chapel at the Ministry of Interior, Abuja, Dr. Ajani emphasized the ministry’s readiness to collaborate with professional bodies to enhance public awareness of government initiatives.

A statement by the Director of Press and Public Relations, Ozoya Imohimi, on Thursday said that
Dr. Ajani highlighted the ministry’s landmark achievements, including ongoing improvements in Nigeria’s e-passport system and the upcoming launch of enhanced operational platforms. She revealed that e-gates are operational at international airports, enabling seamless entry and exit processes for passengers.

“Technology is the way forward. If you refuse to adapt, the world will leave you behind,” Dr. Ajani stated, reflecting on her role in transitioning the Federal Ministry of Transportation to fully digital operations while she was there as the Permanent Secretary.

Acknowledging the challenges of limited financial resources, Dr. Ajani assured that the ministry remains committed to its goals.

“We maximise available resources to achieve excellence. We prioritize impactful initiatives, ensuring our work speaks for itself,” she said.

The Permanent Secretary reiterated her commitment to ensuring impactful contributions during her tenure. “I always ask myself, ‘What will I be remembered for?’ It is not just about initiating systems but about making a difference while we have the opportunity,” Dr. Ajani said.

The meeting with the NUJ marked a significant step in documenting and celebrating the accomplishments of the Ministry of Interior. The Chairman of NUJ Federal Information, Mr. Raphael Towoju commended the leadership of the Ministry of Interior for prioritizing security and innovation.

He emphasized NUJ Federal Information Chapel’s commitment to amplifying government efforts through its flagship publication, “Polity Today” Magazine.

“We are particularly interested in highlighting the milestones of the Ministry of Interior to commemorate the President’s second year in office.”

“Our approach involves spotlighting individual ministries and government agencies to showcase achievements that inspire others.

“Featuring the Ministry of Interior in our Polity Today magazine special edition will be a success story for the ministry and the nation,” Mr. Towoju noted.

The Ministry of Interior continues to set the pace for excellence in governance, fostering a culture of innovation and inclusivity in its operations.
