Mr. Olusanya Assumes Duty as Permanent Secretary Humanitarian Affairs Ministry

…Empasises the need to strengthen collaborations to make more impact

The new Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction has called for the need to strengthen collaboration with Agencies, Humanitarian and Development Partners/Donors and stakeholders, to make more impact in uplifting the plight of vulnerable persons in the society. This was contained in a statement signed by Iliya Rhoda Ishaku, Director, Information and Public Relations.

The Permanent Secretary stated this when he assumed office at the Ministry’s Headquarters, Federal Secretariat, Abuja.
He said the Ministry cannot work in silos but working together will make more impact in the lives of Nigerians.
Mr Olusanya emphasised that all the programmes, policies and interventions implemented by the Ministry affect the lives of the vulnerable such as the elderly, persons with disabilities, persons of concerns, distressed families, refugees, migrants and internally displaced persons. “When we perform, the whole country will feel the impact, and when we do not perform, Nigerians will not feel the impact.”

Mr Olusanya promised to build on the legacies of his predecessor, strengthen staff growth and development as well as enhance staff welfare.
The out-going Permanent Secretary, Dr Yakubu Adam Kofarmata, assured his in-coming colleague that the Ministry is made up of capable hands who have vast experience and expertise in administration, humanitarian Affairs, social development, nutrition, poverty reduction among others. He called on the management and staff of the Ministry to extend the same cooperation and support he enjoyed to the new Permanent Secretary to move the Ministry forward.
In her vote of thanks, the Director, Human Resource Management, Onyia- Desy Chinyere Hilda, expressed appreciation to the out-going Permanent Secretary for his open door policy and contributions towards uplifting the plight of the vulnerable in the country.
She pledged the support and cooperation of the management and staff of the Ministry to the new Permanent Secretary to achieve the mandate of the Ministry.
The high point of the event was the signing of the handing and taking over documents by the two Permanent Secretaries.
The new Permanent Secretary, Mr Olubunmi Olusanya, was deployed from the Federal Ministry of Youth Development while the outgoing Permanent Secretary Dr Yakubu Adam Kofarmata is deployed to the Federal Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development.

In attendance were Directors and staff of the Federal Ministries of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction and Youth Development.
