The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has delivered medical supplies and relief materials to victims of the recent explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State.
The intervention included medical consumables and assorted drugs to support the treatment of injured persons, as well as food and non-food items for affected families.
The Director-General of NEMA, Zubaida Umar, led the delivery on Wednesday during a visit to Maiduguri alongside Vice President Kashim Shettima.
During the visit, Shettima sympathised with victims and reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to ensuring their full recovery.
At the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, where some of the injured are receiving treatment, the Vice President told the hospital’s management that the supplies were provided by the Federal Government through NEMA to support ongoing medical efforts.
Other officials on the visit included the Deputy Governor of Borno State, Umar Usman Kadafur, and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Special Duties, Kaka Shehu Lawan.
The intervention highlights the Federal Government’s continued commitment to providing timely humanitarian assistance and medical support to victims of emergencies across the country.
According to a statement by the NEMA Press Unit signed by Manzo Ezekiel, the agency will continue to coordinate relief efforts to support affected communities and ensure prompt response to disasters nationwide.
