The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has announced series of reforms aimed at transforming it into a more innovative, efficient, and digitally-driven entity.
The latest initiatives of the Service marked a new strategic direction its vision titled “Change of Renewed Hope Berths at NIPOST Shores”.
A statement issued on the transformational strides by the Service’s Director, Corporate Communications, Franklin Alao, indicated that the reforms were designed to align the agency with global best practices, the needs of Nigeria’s evolving digital economy and the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present administration.
According to him, central in the transformational drive is NIPOST’s commitment to becoming a modern postal service — one that is driven by innovation, accountability, value, and service excellence.
Alao further disclosed that a major highlight of the reform package is the transition to a fully cashless system.
He clarified: “Beginning July 1, 2025, all Post Offices counters nationwide will no longer accept cash payments for their services. Customers will be required to use approved electronic channels for all transactions.
“This is a crucial step in our modernization journey – one that ensures safer, faster, and more transparent service delivery.
“Through these initiatives, NIPOST is positioning itself as a dynamic, technology-driven player at the centre of Nigeria’s digital transformation – “Connecting Nigeria, Delivering Solutions, and Improving Lives.
“We are assuring Nigerians of a revitalized NIPOST that delivers superior service and embraces the future”, the Director added.
The management of the NIPOST thanked the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, for his unwavering support and leadership in the drive towards repositioning the Service for improved operations.
In addition, the management also commended the new Chairman of the NIPOST Board, Barr. Isaac Kekemeke, for his passion and strategic foresight since his appointment, and the Postmaster General/CEO, NIPOST, Tola Odeyemi, for her relentless efforts in championing institutional reforms, improving staff welfare, and driving capacity development.
The spokesperson stated that as part of its renewed mandate, NIPOST will implement a performance-based reward and recognition system to encourage excellence, alongside strict disciplinary measures to uphold organizational integrity.
