The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has dismissed claims circulating in the media that it is planning to destroy over six million uncollected Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) from the 2015 voter registration exercise.

Labelling the report as false, INEC urged Nigerians to disregard the misleading information.

“The report is incorrect. At no time did the Commission Contemplate the destruction of uncollected PVCS. ” The Commission stated firmly.

INEC reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to transparency and the integrity of the electoral process and emphasized that all uncollected PVCs remain safe and available for collection by their rightful owners.

The electoral body also advised citizens to verify any information concerning elections directly from official INEC channels to prevent the spread of misinformation.

This clarification comes as part of INEC’s commitment to maintaining public trust and ensuring a credible electoral process in the country.
