Seamless Transition: Ministry of Regional Development Welcomes New Permanent Secretary

The Ministry of Regional Development today, Thursday, January 2, 2025, witnessed a significant milestone with the successful handover ceremony of the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr. Shuaib M.L. Belgore, to the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Tinuke Watti. The event was held in the Permanent Secretary’s conference room at the Ministry’s headquarters, Abuja. This was contained in a statement signed by Mr. Patrick Chika Osuji, Head, Press and Public Relations Unit.

Dr. Shuaib M.L. Belgore, who has served the Ministry with dedication and distinction, delivered a heartfelt farewell speech, reflecting on his tenure and the strides made in fostering sustainable regional development.

In his address, he briefed the new permanent secretary on the activities of each department and expressed gratitude to the Ministry’s staff for their unwavering support and commitment, which he credited as the cornerstone of the Ministry’s achievements.
“It has been an honour to serve in this capacity and to work alongside such talented and dedicated individuals. I am confident that the same level of support will be given to the new permanent secretary, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, which will help steer the Ministry toward even greater achievements,” Dr. Belgore stated.

In her acceptance speech, the newly appointed Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Tinuke Watti, former permanent secretary, Ministry of Sports, highlighted her vision for inclusive and impactful regional development, emphasizing collaboration and innovation as key pillars of her administration.
“I am deeply honoured to take on this responsibility. Together, we will continue to advance the Ministry’s mission, ensuring that our regional development initiatives positively impact and transform lives,” said Mrs. Watti.
