The South-East Labour Party women pass a vote of confidence in Alex Otti and Nenadi Usman, others.

This was contained in a Press Communique jointly signed by Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, Deputy National Woman Leader, South East Zone, Labour Party, and Arc. Chinelo Ofoche, National Organizing Secretary, Labour Party, Nigeria.

The statement reads: “The Women Leaders of the Labour Party across the South East geopolitical zone held a strategic online meeting on Saturday, 28th March 2026, under the leadership of the Deputy National Woman Leader (South East Zone), in collaboration with the National Organizing Secretary of the party. The meeting brought together prominent women leaders of the party from across the five states of the zone to deliberate on strengthening women participation, consolidating the party’s structures, and advancing the collective interests of the Labour Party in the South East.

“After extensive deliberations on issues relating to women mobilization, party unity, and the ongoing internal processes of the party, the meeting reached the following resolutions:

“Promotion of Women Participation in Politics

“The meeting strongly reaffirmed the commitment of Labour Party women leaders in the South East to continue promoting and encouraging active participation of women in politics. The leaders emphasized that meaningful inclusion of women in political leadership and decision-making processes remains critical to achieving equity, justice, and sustainable progress within the party and the broader democratic space. To this end, the women resolved to intensify grassroots mobilization and advocacy efforts aimed at empowering more women to participate actively in party activities and leadership structures.

“Participation in E-Registration and Forthcoming Party Congress

“The women leaders unanimously resolved to mobilize women members across the South East to fully participate in the ongoing electronic registration (e-registration) exercise of the Labour Party. The meeting also encouraged women across the zone to prepare actively for the forthcoming party congresses, noting that these processes are crucial to strengthening the internal democratic framework of the party and ensuring robust representation of women in party leadership.

“Vote of Confidence in Party Leadership

“In recognition of exemplary leadership, dedication to service, and commitment to the growth and stability of the Labour Party, the meeting unanimously passed a vote of confidence on the following distinguished leaders:

“His Excellency, Dr. Alex Otti, OFR, Executive Governor of Abia State, and His Excellency, Engr. Dr. Ikechukwu Emetu, Deputy Governor of Abia State, for their outstanding, purposeful, and visionary leadership in Abia State, which continues to demonstrate the transformative capacity of Labour Party governance.

“Distinguished Senator Nenadi Esther Usman, National Chairman of the Labour Party, for her courageous, prudent, and wisdom-filled leadership in steering the affairs of the party toward greater unity, stability, and national relevance.

“Distinguished Senator Darlington Nwokocha for his exceptional service, commitment, and dedication to the ideals and advancement of the Labour Party.

“Arc. Chinelo Ofoche, National Organizing Secretary of the Labour Party, for her tireless organizational leadership and unwavering commitment to strengthening the party’s structures across the country.

“Mrs. Ijeoma Chukwu, Deputy National Woman Leader (South East Zone), for her continued efforts in mobilizing, coordinating, and strengthening the network of Labour Party women across the South East.

“All Labour Party Women Leaders across the South East Zone, for their steadfast commitment, loyalty, and dedication to the unity, growth, and continuity of the Labour Party.

“The meeting concluded with a renewed pledge by all participants to continue working collectively to deepen party unity, strengthen grassroots mobilization, and ensure that the Labour Party remains a strong, credible, and progressive political platform in the South East and across Nigeria.

“The woman leaders reaffirmed their collective resolve to continue promoting unity within the party while advancing policies and initiatives that strengthen the voice and influence of women in the Labour Party and Nigeria’s democratic process, ” it also added.
