The Nigerian Air Force has confirmed that one of its C-130 aircraft made a safe precautionary landing in Burkina Faso after the crew detected a technical concern shortly after departing Lagos on a ferry mission to Portugal.
According to a statement from the Director of Public Relations and Information, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, the crew acted “in strict compliance with international aviation protocols” by diverting to the nearest airfield in Bobo-Dioulasso on 8 December 2025.
All personnel on board are safe and have since received “cordial treatment” from Burkinabé authorities.
The NAF added that plans are underway to resume the scheduled maintenance mission.
Reassuring the public, the Air Force emphasised its unwavering commitment to operational procedures and safety standards in safeguarding its personnel and fulfilling its constitutional mandate.
