Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have disrupted criminal activities across parts of Zamfara State, rescuing three wounded civilians, recovering 117 suspected rustled cattle and intercepting a stolen Toyota Camry.

The operations, conducted as part of ongoing clearance efforts to restore peace and security in the state, also resulted in the recovery of two donkeys, one goat and five cow skins.

Following a distress call over an attack by armed bandits on travellers along the Dampo-Rumba Road in Bakura Local Government Area, troops swiftly deployed to the area and engaged the attackers.

The troops’ response forced the assailants to retreat into the surrounding bush, abandoning three injured civilians. The victims were immediately given first aid before being evacuated for further medical treatment, while troops secured the road and intensified patrols along the route.

In a separate operation based on credible intelligence, troops deployed around the Magami axis intercepted five trucks conveying suspected rustled livestock reportedly heading towards Gusau.

A search of the trucks led to the recovery of 117 cows, two donkeys, one goat and five cow skins. The recovered livestock were subsequently handed over to the Chairman of the Zamfara State Committee on the Recovery of Rustled Animals in Gusau for identification and return to their rightful owners.

Meanwhile, troops operating in Tsafe Local Government Area intercepted a stolen Toyota Camry with registration number RBC 804CL.

The driver reportedly ignored a stop signal and fled towards a nearby community, prompting troops to give chase. The suspects eventually abandoned the vehicle and escaped on foot.

The recovered vehicle has been secured for further administrative and legal action as troops continue clearance operations and aggressive patrols across vulnerable areas of Zamfara State.
