Anambra Security: IGP Declares Open a Five-day Training of Officers on Strategic Police Conduct, Emotional Intelligence, Human Relations, Communication Skills, and Attitudinal Change

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) today 19th January 2026 formally declared open a five-day training programme on Strategic Police Conduct, Emotional Intelligence, Human Relations, Communication Skills, and Attitudinal Change for officers of the Nigeria Police Force in Anambra State. This was contained in a statement signed by SP. Ikenga Tochukwu, Police Public Relations Officer, Anambra State Police Command.

According to the Statement, the training which is ongoing at Trig-Point Hotel Hall Awka, is sponsored by the Police Trust Fund and is aimed at strengthening professionalism, enhancing operational effectiveness, and promoting ethical, people-centered policing. Participants drawn from various departments and formations within the Anambra State Police Command are expected to benefit from the intensive sessions focused on modern policing techniques and positive behavioural transformation. The training is scheduled to end on 23rd January 2025.

Declaring the event open, Deputy Commissioner of Police in Charge of Finance and Administration DCP Ngozi Ezeabata who spoke on behalf of the Command, stressed the importance laid by the IGP on emotional intelligence, effective communication and sound human relations in contemporary policing. The DCP noted that these competencies are essential for building public trust, improving Police-Community relations, and ensuring the effective discharge of duties.

The Command also expressed its appreciation to the Inspector-General of Police and the Police Trust Fund for facilitating the programme, describing it as a timely intervention that will significantly enhance security operations and service delivery in the State. The resource persons at the training are engaging participants in conflict management, ethical policing, leadership, and attitudinal change, with a focus on professionalism and accountability.

The five-day training underscores the commitment of the Nigeria Police Force leadership to continuous capacity development and the transformation of policing practices to meet global standards and community expectations.
