The Concerned Medics Foundation stated this at the launch of partnership between it and the National Hospital Abuja on Tuesday aimed at bringing doctors in Diaspora to support and complement doctors in Nigeria.
It also has the mission to improve healthcare quality and accessibility in Nigeria by supporting medical professionals and patients through collaborative programmes, skills transfer, and doctors in Diaspora.
The foundation is also envisioned to transform lives and build resilient healthcare systems by providing exceptional medical support, bridging healthcare disparities, and strengthening local medical capacity in Nigeria.
In her welcome address, Dr. Sadiya Gumi, the Chairperson, Concerned Medics Foundation, noted that the Foundation was formed with the primary objective to overcome brain drain also for giving back to Nigeria which nutured the Diaspora Medics to become who they are today. She called for support and collaboration of the Nigerian government to enable the foundation to realise its noble objectives. She also stated that the foundation was happy and looked forward to the signing of the MoU between it and the National Hospital.
Prof. Muhammad Raji Mahmud, the Chief Medical Director of the National Hospital Abuja and the host of the event, lauded the Concerned Medics Foundation and noted that their intervention will help stem brain drain in the medical services in Nigeria. He also expressed his gladness in the signing of the MOU between the foundation and the National Hospital Abuja.
He also promised to give the foundation all the necessary support needed to execute their programmes.
Rt. Hon. Benjamin. Kalu, Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives who represented Rt. Hon. Tajuddeen Abbas, Speaker, House of Representatives who was the Chairman of the occasion, lauded the Concerned Medics Foundation for their patriotism and called on other Nigerian medical personnel in Diaspora to emulate them. He pledged the support of the National Assembly through the provision of funding and legislative support.
The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, Kachollom Shangsti Daju, pledged the support of the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare to enable the foundation succeed.
There were goodwill message messages from Ministries and Agencies. The highlight of the event was the signing of the MoU between the Concerned Medics Foundation and the National Hospital Abuja.
