The Ministry of Interior has disowned a fake press release circulating on social media and messaging platforms, purporting to announce the postponement of the ongoing recruitment exercise of the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) until after the 2027 general election.
The document, titled “CDCFIB Recruitment Update” and dated August 11, 2026, was falsely attributed to the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo.
In a rebuttal, the Ministry described the document as fake, unauthorised and fraudulent, stressing that it did not originate from the Ministry, the Minister’s office or the CDCFIB.
The Ministry said the Minister neither signed nor issued the purported statement.
It further clarified that no decision has been taken to defer the recruitment exercise until after the 2027 general election, contrary to the claim contained in the circulating document.
According to the Ministry, the recruitment exercise remains ongoing.
It therefore urged applicants and members of the public to disregard the fake statement and avoid relying on unverified information circulating on social media.
The Ministry advised applicants to obtain updates only through the verified communication platforms of the Ministry of Interior and CDCFIB, including the official recruitment portal, cdcfib.gov.ng.
The warning comes amid increasing circulation of fraudulent recruitment information online, which could mislead applicants and expose unsuspecting members of the public to scams.
The rebuttal was signed electronically by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Interior.
The Ministry reiterated the importance of verifying recruitment announcements through official channels before taking any action or providing personal information.
