The NNPC Foundation, the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of NNPC Ltd., has commissioned and handed over a fully installed 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) system to the National Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH), Dala, Kano State, in a move aimed at strengthening diagnostic healthcare services in Nigeria.

According to a statement issued by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of NNPC Ltd., Andy Odeh, on June 5, 2026, the intervention reflects the company’s commitment to improving healthcare access and strengthening medical infrastructure across the country.

The state-of-the-art equipment is expected to enhance the diagnosis and treatment of orthopaedic, neurological, trauma, musculoskeletal, and gynaecological conditions, significantly improving patient care at the facility.

Before the intervention, many patients requiring advanced MRI scans reportedly faced challenges such as long-distance travel, prolonged waiting times, and high costs of accessing diagnostic services.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony held at the hospital in Kano, the Group Chief Executive Officer of NNPC Ltd., represented by the Managing Director of NNPC Foundation, Mrs. Emmanuella Arukwe said the donation aligns with the organisation’s broader goal of delivering impactful and sustainable social investments.

Also speaking, the Executive Vice President, Business Services of NNPC Ltd., Mrs. Sophia Mbakwe, represented by the Executive Director of Programme Management at the NNPC Foundation, Mrs. Rose Okonkwo said the company’s interventions go beyond oil production to improving lives and strengthening national institutions.

She noted that the donation would significantly enhance healthcare delivery in Kano State, the North-West region and beyond, particularly for patients relying on the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Dala, for specialised medical services.

Kano State Governor, Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, represented by the Commissioner for Health, Abubakar Labaran Yusuf, commended NNPC Foundation for the intervention, describing it as a major milestone in strengthening healthcare services through early and accurate diagnosis.
