Troops of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, attached to the 1 Brigade Quick Reaction Force, have engaged terrorists along the Birnin Magaji–Zurmi road in Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The encounter occurred at about 1700 hours on August 7, 2026, when the troops, while returning from an operation to support the scanning and possible detonation of suspected improvised explosive devices planted by terrorists along the K/Namoda–Zurmi axis, made contact with the terrorists at Birnin Tsaba Village. The troops engaged the terrorists, forcing them to withdraw in disarray through the community into the surrounding bushes.

Following the encounter, the troops recovered two motorcycles, a camouflage jungle hat, a Baofeng handheld radio and an MP3 player.

The recovery of the communication equipment and other items is expected to support ongoing intelligence and security operations in the area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA troops continue to conduct offensive operations against terrorists and other criminal elements across the North-West, with the objective of protecting communities and securing major routes.
