Troops of Joint Task Force Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with troops of the Mobile Strike Team (MST), have repelled an attack by terrorists along the Jengeru–Moriki road in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred at about 1200 hours on August 7, 2026, following intelligence on terrorist activity around Kwanar Jolof along the route.

According to military sources, troops swiftly mobilised to the area and made contact with the terrorists. The troops engaged the attackers with superior firepower, forcing them to withdraw in disarray.

The troops subsequently exploited and dominated the general area, recovering one motorcycle, a pair of camouflage uniforms, a camouflage vest, a jungle hat, a mosquito net and a sleeping mat.

The military presence in the area also restored confidence among residents and road users, with normalcy and civilian vehicular activities returning along the route.

The troops later returned to base at about 1600 hours after successfully dominating the area.
